Fostering means saving lives. The more families able to provide a temporary home for our rescues, the more dogs will get a second chance at life. Foster homes help dogs recover from their past by providing the comfort, kindness, and time they need to learn to trust again. Your home can be a safe refuge until the appropriate forever home can be found!

Walking a dog is a fun activity with a training benefit. Help a dog improve leash manners, enjoy the company of people, or just begin to feel safe in the environment around him/her. It builds confidence in dogs with every walk. We need volunteers to walk with our dogs in the Frederick, MD area.

Helping with Fundraising
Lizzy’s Lodge is funded only through donations. Hold an adoption event and/or fundraiser at your business. Start a donation drive for necessary dog food or medical expenses. Create an online raffle or giving page. Celebrate a birthday with dog-themed activities. Share the stories of Lizzy’s Lodge dogs with friends and family who may want to help as well.

Help arrange adoption events at local businesses, or be onsite at the events to answer questions from potential adopters or donors. Want to be "hands on"? Escort one of our adoptable dogs at the event and make sure they shine, putting their best paw forward in the spotlight! Most of our events are in Maryland, within an hour of DC.

If you are interested in volunteering or just thinking about it, please email us. Tell us about your dog experience, what you love about dogs, and what might work with your family. Unfortunately, we cannot accept volunteers younger than 18 who want to be “hands-on” with dogs due to insurance restrictions.
However, there are other volunteer opportunities for younger folks that can make a difference for a dog. We’ll contact you and coordinate a time to talk and share dog tales and possibilities. Want to meet some of our dogs? We can arrange that as well.
